Following Mayor Byron Brown’s directive that the City of Buffalo will be under an 8pm to 5am curfew starting today and continuing through Sunday June 7, The Law Office of Stephanie Adams PLLC makes the following statement:
It appears this curfew is imposed with the express goal of limiting the First Amendment right to peaceable assembly of the residents of the City of Buffalo, and is therefore blatantly unconstitutional on its face. That said, it is likely to be enforced.
The LOSA wants to clearly and unequivocally state that we support residents exercising their First Amendment rights. We commend the struggle for criminal justice reform and racial equality. While we advise our clients to always abide by the law, we also fight for people to exercise the freedoms that are built into the foundation of this country.
